Rangers Boss Mark Warburton Jumps to the Defence of Niko Kranjcar

Rangers boss Mark Warburton has launched a staunch defence of midfielder Niko Kranjcar following the club’s disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Hamilton at the weekend.

Playing their first match in the top flight for four years, Rangers were big favourites to claim all three points and give their fans a show, but Hamilton stubbornly claimed a share of the spoils.

And one of the stars making his league bow for the Gers was ex-Croatia international Kranjcar, but the former Tottenham and QPR play-maker failed to live up to his big billing, drawing criticism from fans and pundits alike.

But Warburton is having none of it, and ahead of Rangers’ League Cup tie against Peterhead at Ibrox tomorrow evening, the Englishman offered a firm rebuttal:

So, there you have it – Kranjcar is still some way off full fitness but Warburton insists he is still a ‘special’ player.

What do you think? Does he just need time to adjust? Or is he unsuited to Rangers’ style of play?
