If you’ve been following Barcelona‘s pre-season training sessions online this summer then you could be excused for being left a little confused.

And I mean confused about which sport these world-class football stars are actually in training for.

The Barca coaching squad have came up with a host of unique ways to incorporate fun activities into their training sessions as they prepare for the new season.

Last week, the La Liga champions took on manager Luis Enrique and his coaching staff in a game of bubble football.

But now they’ve gone one step further by getting into the Olympic spirit.

While the action is going on in Rio, the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been competing in their own events on the training ground with their team-mates.

During the squad’s latest session the players enjoyed a small-sided game of rugby. Although, they do seem a little uncertain of the rules when it comes to forward passing.

The Catalan giants have even been trying their hand at gymnastics. They’ve been testing their core strength and balance by carrying out drills while balancing on huge exercise balls.

Barca will go in search of a third consecutive title this season in Spain.

But they kick-off their domestic campaign in the Spanish Supercup against Sevilla on Sunday night.
