An under-19 match between the United States and Bahrain ended in a full-scale brawl on Monday night, with four players sent off and 33 men charging to get involved.

The match took place at a COTIF youth tournament in Spain, and with America trailing 3-1 in added time striker Pierre Da Silva had the ball smashed against his head, which sparked the heated incident and saw both sets of players and coaches confront one another.

The initial striker was reminiscent of Robin van Persie’s scrap at Swansea a few seasons ago, when Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claimed he could have been killed.

The match saw America, coached by Brad Friedel, eliminated from the tournament in disgrace – after embarrassing themselves with the fight, and also losing to a country smaller than New York City.

What do you make of the incident? Did it merit such a heated reaction?
