Joey Barton is often accused of being a bit too physical in how he plays the game but tonight it was the midfielder on the receiving end of an absolutely crunching tackle.
The Rangers number eight was in his usual position of centre midfield for the Gers’ Premiership trip to Kilmarnock this evening, and ended up at the centre of one of the match’s talking points.
Kris Boyd had given Killie the lead before half-time, before James Tavernier’s incredible free-kick levelled things up at 1-1 on 59 minutes.
As soon as the match evened up, tempers became frayed, and 18-year-old Greg Taylor went flying into Barton with his studs raised and could have done a lot of damage to the veteran.
He may be young, but there’s pretty much no excuse for a tackle like this:
That horror Greg Taylor tackle for anyone who missed it. Straight red. No arguments. https://t.co/IQyx0C7blz

Barton was initially in pain on the ground, and recieved a bit of treatment from the Rangers physio before, fortunately, being able to play on.
But what a shocker from Taylor, eh?
He’ll obviously get a ban, but after a tackle like that he should be looking at six months in Barlinnie!
