Sunderland youngster Ethan Robson won’t take long impressing new manager David Moyes if he keeps scoring free-kicks like this.
The Black Cats midfielder was appearing for the club’s Under-23s last night in their opening Premier League 2 fixture of the season against Leicester.
And the young side have him to thank for settling an entertaining game which had the sides heading for a 2-2 draw late on.
The goal
Taking aim on the right-hand side at the edge of the Foxes box, Robson curled a left-footed beauty into the top corner of goalkeeper Daniel Iversen’s net:

How good is that?
Sunderland are certainly in need of some inspiration like that in their first team after starting the season with defeats to Manchester City and Middlesbrough.
Along with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, Moyes’ men have zero points and sit in the relegation zone of the Premier League table.
The Scottish manager will have to do some improving between now and the end of the summer transfer window if the Black Cats are to find some better form on the pitch.
