Andres Iniesta Reveals Ronaldinho’s Made-Up Real Madrid Exit Story

Andres Iniesta has revealed that Ronaldinho once pretended he was leaving Barcelona for Real Madrid in a bid to improve team unity at the Catalan club.

The legendary Spanish midfielder’s new autobiography, The Move of My Life, is now on sale and should include some brilliant stories from his illustrious career.

As well as speaking about a golden era for Spain, a truck load of trophies with Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Real Madrid, Iniesta relives life playing with Ronaldinho.

And it’s writing about the Brazilian playmaker where Iniesta tells one of his best stories.

‘Dinho’

According to the Barca great, Ronaldinho once pretended to be moving to Real Madrid in a lucrative deal by phoning up his team-mates in the middle of the night and explaining it all.

Ronaldinho apparently told every player in the squad to keep it a secret – before revealing before a game against their rivals in 2005 that it was fake and instead an attempt to prove just how close they were as a team:

Fans will remember that game against Madrid fondly, as Ronaldinho turned in a man of the match performance to earn applause from the Real supporters.

He stayed at Barca for two more seasons, helping to another La Liga title as well as the Champions League trophy in 2006, before leaving for AC Milan.

As for Iniesta, he’s going into his 15th season as a Barca first team player and shows no signs of stopping.
