Ashley Young brilliantly summed up how much of a star Marcus Rashford is after his debut hat-trick for England Under 21s last night.
The Manchester United striker’s demotion from the England senior squad was seen as a surprise for some when Sam Allardyce named his selection two weeks ago.
Rashford’s blistering end to last season saw him earn a spot in Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016 and his substitute appearances in France supported his case for regular inclusion in the top team.
But his demotion to the bench at United under Jose Mourinho so far this campaign meant Allardyce let him join Gareth Southgate’s squad.
And just under two weeks after scoring United’s late winner away at Hull, Rashford has produced more goalscoring heroics with his brilliant hat-trick against Norway Under 21s in a 6-1 win last night.
It was Rashford’s U21 debut – and follows goalscoring debuts in the Europa League, Premier League, Manchester derby and for the England national team over the last seven months:

The debut goals haven’t been lost on many – including United team-mate Young, who brilliantly summed up everyone’s reaction to last night’s hat-trick:

If anyone thought Rashford would spend the season as United and England back-up before his last two games, we’re pretty sure they’ve changed their mind now.
Sam Allardyce was in the stadium to watch the England kids play and would have been very impressed with what he saw from the 18-year-old hitman.
