Bayer Leverkusen Quickly Regret Trolling Tottenham on Twitter

Bayer Leverkusen‘s social media team decided to make a move on their Tottenham counterparts on Wednesday night – and were left regretting it pretty quickly.

Both teams are in the same Champions League group and played their opening games simultaneously, with Spurs taking on Monaco at Wembley and Bayer hosting CSKA Moscow in Germany.

And early in the games, everything was going swimmingly for the Bundesliga club, who were 2-0 up against Moscow in, as Spurs were 2-0 down courtesy of goals from Bernado Silva and Thomas Lemar.

And as soon as Monaco’s second went in, Bayer decided to send out a cheeky tweet and have a dig at Mauricio Pochettino’s men:

However, that cheeky little emoji didn’t last too long, as the Russians stormed back into the game – and eventually secured a vital 2-2 draw via goals from Alan Dzagoev and Roman Eremenko.

Whilst Spurs couldn’t quite manage a similar comeback, losing 2-1, it was Leverkusen who were left with egg on their face – and they even deleted the original tweet.

How embarrassing.

We’ve got a Celtic fan and a Rangers man in as guests to look back on the big result at Parkhead, plus much more from the SPFL:
