Dejan Lovren Explains Why He’s Missing For Liverpool v Leicester

Dejan Lovren has explained why he’s not in Liverpool‘s team to play Leicester at Anfield this evening.

The Croatian defender has picked up from where he left off last season by starting this campaign in strong form.

But he won’t be involved tonight as his side welcome the English Premier League champions to their home.

Lovren was apparently the victim of a training ground collision yesterday and came away from it with a big black eye.

And he’s shared a picture of the injury on his Instagram account ahead of the game:

We’re not surprise Lovren isn’t involved – it doesn’t look like he can see out of that right eye.

Instead, Jurgen Klopp has opted for Lucas to partner Joel Matip in the centre of their defence.

And, along with the Liverpool supporters, he’ll be hoping the Brazilian will be able to cope with the pace of Jamie Vardy in the visiting Foxes attack.

Vardy put them to the sword the last time the sides met back in February, scoring two goals in a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium.
