Gary Neville has put the press panic around Manchester United into a much-needed perspective.
The Old Trafford legend is back working with Sky Sports this season and has had as close a look as any at Jose Mourinho and his new side.
He’ll have seen United start the season so brightly before a difficult week got rid of the feel-good factor around the club.
United beat Leicester in the Community Shield before winning their first three Premier League games with a new-look team centred around some big summer signings.
In comparison, the last three games have been disappointing, with Mourinho’s men losing 2-1 to Manchester City at home before Feyenoord beat them in the Europa League and Watford emerged victorious from their weekend league clash.
A lot can change in a week and that’s what appears to have happened at Old Trafford as Mourinho is now coming in for criticism along with several of his players, including Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw.
But Neville isn’t overreacting with United’s turnaround in form:
Just reading the sports headlines this morning. 10 days ago going into the Derby United were back. Now they're [email protected]@@@d. Football madness..

It’s hard to disagree with Neville’s assessment of the situation considering United have played just six games this season between the league and Europa League.
But there’s no doubting the change in mood around Old Trafford after Mourinho’s first difficult spell as manager.
Manchester United fans – have you been surprised with the reaction so far?
