Saido Mane has handed Liverpool a timely boost after it was revealed the midfielder’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared – and supporters are absolutely over the moon about it.
The attacking midfielder – a £30 million summer signing from Southampton – was subbed an hour into Senegal’s 2-0 win over Namibia at the weekend, with suggestions he’d suffered some sort of knee injury.
Jurgen Klopp was so worked up about the incident that he even called Mane personally to find out the extent of his knock, to help relieve his own anxiety.
But the good news is that it looks like Mane’s substitution was nothing more than a precaution by the Senegalese management team, and the Reds’ key player should be fit to face Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.
That news was music to the ears of Liverpool fans all across the country, some of whom could hardly contain themselves:
