Raheem Sterling‘s renaissance is continuing apace under the schooling of Pep Guardiola with the England winger scooping the Premier League’s Player of the Month Award today – but hardly anyone can believe Eden Hazard didn’t win.
City midfielder Sterling won the award for August the first time in his career after votes from a panel of experts, Premier League captains and Twitter polls, seeing off competition from Antonio Valencia, Curtis Davies and Hazard.
Both Sterling and Hazard have both scored twice in their opening three Premier League fixtures, with Hazard’s strike against Burnley probably the best of the lot.
And despite Sterling’s undoubted quality, there are a lot of supporters on social media who are far from happy with the result:
I thought hazard and mourinho both won player and manager of the month, how come sterling and phelan????

Fair enough sterling has been brilliant, but Hazard has been better throughout the month, hence "Player of the month"

Sterling is named player of the month over Hazard!? What a joke.

Sterling was nowhere near Hazard performance wise this month what spastic allowed twitter polls to decide these awards

Sterling better than Hazard in August has to be the biggest joke since Buhari's 'change begins with you' agenda.

But what do you think of the result? Did Sterling win fair and square? Or should Hazard be adding a new trophy to his mantelpiece?
