Brandon Marshall Takes a Knee During US National Anthem Before NFL Opener

Brandon Marshall took a knee during the US national anthem before the NFL opener between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos tonight.

The Broncos linebacker was the only one from either team to kneel in a show of solidarity with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaep has been the biggest story in the sport since deciding not to stand during the national anthem before his team’s pre-season games.

He chose to kneel in their final pre-season outing as he continued his protest against the way black people are treated in the US.

And while there has been significant reaction to Kaepernick’s actions, Marshall has chosen to unite alongside the 49ers QB and kneeled before tonight’s season opener:

Marshall’s act hasn’t gone unnoticed and is sure to be discussed regardless of how tonight’s game pans out.

As for Kaepernick, he has insisted he will continue to use kneeling during the anthem as his way of protesting against something he feels “is bigger than football”.
