We’re all too aware of the unpalatable nonsense that has become associated with football all too often these days, but sometimes supporters do something to remind everyone just how sport can be used as a tool for good.
Earlier today, Dutch sides Feyenoord and ADO Den Haag squared off in an Eredivise tie with patients from the local Sophia Children’s Hospital present as guests of the Rotterdam club.
The travelling Den Haag fans were seated directly above the area of the stadium where the children sat, and in the 12 minute of the game, brilliantly began to shower them with thousands of teddy bears and stuffed toys:

According to the Guardian, Den Haag fans had been encouraged to bring the toys in the build-up to the match and the certainly disappoint.
The children were also able to accompany both teams onto the pitch ahead of kick-off on a day which none of them are likely to forget in a hurry.
Damn football hooligans, eh?
