Gianluigi Buffon might just be the nicest guy in football – as shown by his clapping gesture after hearing Italy fans begin to boo the French national anthem last night.
The Juventus goalkeeper led his country out against Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus side in Stadio San Nicola last night just two months after competing at Euro 2016.
It was a friendly, but you wouldn’t have thought that when hearing the Italian fans booing the start of La Marseillaise.
One home supporter was filming as the tune began to play over the stadium tannoy and you can just about hear some booing and jeering before the sight of Buffon appears clapping – something which the rest of the fans inside the stadium quickly begin doing too:

That’s pretty awesome from Buffon to realise that the French national anthem deserved respect – particularly after the reception the Italian team had at their games in France during Euro 2016.
Sadly for Buffon and the home supporters, it was the visitors who ended up winning the game 3-1.
Anthony Martial opened the scoring for France before Graziano Pelle equalised for Italy.
But the French soon found themselves back in the lead thanks to Olivier Giroud’s goal before Layvin Kurzawa got the third nine minutes before full time.
