Video: Kanu Keeps to Promise of Scoring Hat-Trick For Arsenal Legends

Kanu kept to his promise by scoring a hat-trick in the Arsenal legends match this afternoon.

While it’s the international break, the club took the opportunity to get some of their best ever players back to take part in a charity match for the Arsenal Foundation against some AC Milan greats.

With stars like Freddie Ljungberg, Marc Overmars, Martin Keown, Paolo Maldini, Dida and Christian Vieri involved, it was always going to be entertaining.

But Kanu would have been the biggest attraction for many – with Gunners fans loving the Nigerian striker from his five-year spell with the club between 1999 and 2004.

Despite hilariously not realising he was a substitute at the start of the game, Kanu climbed off the bench to score a hat-trick as the Arsenal legends head for a win over their Italian rivals.

And you can’t say he didn’t predict it – tweeting earlier this week that he would score three in the game.

Hat-Trick Hero

His first was a great header, which we showed you earlier today here.

Kanu’s second was a header again, aided by some brilliant refereeing from Howard Webb and his officials:

And his third was from the penalty spot – beating Dida after Robert Pires was fouled in the box:

Kanu really is a class act!

Arsenal fans who attended the game probably wish they still had the Nigerian striker in their ranks.
