We knew Ricardo Quaresma had a hard shot, but not so hard he could knock out an opponent with it.
That’s what happened tonight as Quaresma’s Besiktas side took on Benfica in the opening night of matches in the Champions League.
With the Turkish team chasing an equaliser going into the last 10 minutes of the game, the Portuguese winger collected the ball at the top right-hand side of the box.
He’s direct so it was no surprise to see Quaresma go straight for goal, but his volley was blasted straight at Grimaldo’s head, knocking the Benfica full-back out:
Fortunately Grimaldo made a very quick recovery, after some quick thinking from the players, and was able to come back into the game after receiving treatment.
Unfortunately for him and his Benfica team-mates, they were unable to keep hold of their 1-0 lead, with Besiktas scoring an equaliser through Talisca in the 93rd minute.
