Rory McIlroy shouted ‘come on Rosey’ as Justin Rose was announced on the first tee at the Ryder Cup while he practiced.
The Northern Irishman was getting some last minute swings in while Rose and Henrik Stenson kicked off Europe’s defence of the trophy against Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth in the first foursome of the day.
McIlroy himself headed out in the second foursome, partnering Andy Sullivan against Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler.
‘Come on Rosey!’
And he was definitely pumped up – as shown by his reaction to hearing Rose’s name being announced at the first tee:
McIlroy was followed out by Sergio Garcia and Martin Kaymer taking on Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson before Thomas Pieters and Lee Westwood faced Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar in the final foursome.
As it stands, Spieth and Reed are two up on Rose and Stenson while Johnson and Kuchar lead Pieters and Westwood by one. Walker and Johnson are down one on Garcia and Kaymer.
