Known affectionately as ‘Wee Jay’, the 12-year-old – who suffers from Down’s Syndrome – has become known worldwide as the unofficial Celtic mascot after Neil Lennon and Georgios Samaras took a shine to him back in 2013.
Jay attends almost every match and often seen with Hoops players and officials, as evidenced by his trip to Parkhead for last week’s match against Man City with Kris Commons and his wife.
And now lifelong Celtic supporter Scott Cardle has invited Jay to take a foray into the world of boxing and will walk him to the ring when he features on the under-card of Ricky Burns’ world title defence at the SSE Hydro on Friday night:
Over the moon to announce, my wee pal Jay Beatty will be walking me out on Friday night with my belt!! ?pic.twitter.com/J2mCwMS0A8

Cardle will take on Kevin Hooper in front of the Glasgow crowd in a defence of his British lightweight title, and he’ll be hoping Jay can bring him some good luck for what’s bound to be a tricky fight.
We’re wondering where we’ll see Jay popping up next!
