Celtic winger Patrick Roberts is the latest exciting young footballing talent to be added to Adidas’ ‘Backed by Messi’ campaign.
The on-loan Manchester City star joins the likes of Chelsea’s Robert Kenedy, Man Utd’s James Wilson and promising Germany striker Timo Werner in getting involved in the Adidas-backed Lionel Messi fan movement.
Back in 2015, the Barcelona and Argentina superstar became the first player to receive his very own uniquely styled boot, which Adidas describes as the “ultimate weapons, designed for his own unique style and talent.”

And the players inducted into the illustrious group, which now includes Roberts, will also be given their own unique cleats for the forthcoming season, and will update the world on their progress filming their own content for the Adidas YouTube channel.

Roberts definitely has the talent, pace and raw ability to be included in such a prestigious group of young talent – but he can’t get into the Celtic side at the moment because of James Forrest’s form.
He’ll need to get back into the starting XI soon – or Leo will want his boots back!
