Rotherham fans got a little bit of excitement this morning when they thought Alan Stubbs had been sacked by the club.
The Millers sit rock bottom of the English Championship table on six points, six away from Blackburn in the safety of 21st.
They’ve won just once in the 14 games Stubbs has taken charge of since leaving Hibs for New York Stadium in the summer.
So you can understand why supporters aren’t loving him at the moment.
Those who’ve wanted him sacked would have been happy to see news of it being announced by the club this morning.
At a quick glance this looks like official confirmation of the news on Twitter, doesn’t it?

As you can see from the responses, plenty of fans – both north and south of the border – responded to that news.
But Rotherham’s official Twitter account had to correct fans by confirming that the above account is actually fake:

As you can see, plenty of Rotherham fans are still expecting some news on Stubbs.
And that could still end up coming today, with Radio Yorkshire reporter Derek Clark hinting that it could be on the way:

Stubbs moved south in the summer after leading Hibs to a historic Scottish Cup victory over Rangers, but he was unable to lead the Edinburgh outfit to promotion from the Championship on two attempts.
