Paul Merson Says He’d Take Henderson Over Pogba and Some Fans Are Baffled

Paul Merson has left some fans baffled after saying he’d rather pick Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson ahead of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, with the two teams scheduled to meet in the Premier League on Monday night.

The pundit was asked by Sky Sports which of the two he’d start in his midfield in the blockbuster fixture, if he could only pick one and he replied:

“Today, Jordan Henderson.

“Over the next 10 years, I don’t know – it probably should be Pogba considering how much money they spent. Henderson has been as good as anybody in the Premier League. Credit where credit is due, he’s been outstanding. Pogba has been struggling.”

Henderson is going through something of a purple patch at the moments, and even captained England earlier this week.

Conversely, Pogba has failed to live up to the hype of his world record £89 million price tag since re-joining United in the summer, having managed just one goal for the Red Devils so far this season.

But despite their respective form at the moment, Merson’s comments has left some supporters absolutely baffled:

What do you think? Is there any way that anybody could form a defence of Merson and his comments? Is Henderson a better player than Pogba just now?
