Raymond Verheijen Hits Back at Jurgen Klopp After ‘Dutch Guy’ Comment

Raymond Verheijen has hit back at Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool manager’s ‘Dutch guy’ criticism.

The German today criticised his side’s festive schedule, as they’re now marked down to play Manchester City on New Year’s Eve before facing Sunderland on January 2nd.

That means they’ll play two big games in 48 hours – and how they do could have a big impact on how their title aspirations look going into the second half of the season.

Klopp also had a pop at Verheijen, referring to the coach as a ‘Dutch guy’ who criticised his treatment of players and their physical condition over recent seasons.

That obviously got to Verheijen, who responded to Klopp by tweeting his claim about the former Borussia Dortmund gaffer causing 20 hamstring injuries in 10 months, but blames external factors for causing those:

He then added:

Klopp v Verheijen wasn’t the controversial story we were expecting today, but it’s sure to rumble on as the latter continues to criticise top managers for the way they treat their players.

Klopp was speaking today ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Manchester United at Anfield on Monday night.
