Former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has staked a whopping €100,000 on a bet with a supporter of his current club Antalyaspor, following the Turkish side’s disappointing start to the season.
The ex-Cameroon international has managed just one goal so far this season, with Antalyaspor currently rooted to the bottom of the Turkish league with just three points from seven games.
Following Monday night’s 1-1 draw at home to Rizespor, Eto’o went to the stands to try and placate furious supporters and is alleged to have bet one supporter the mammoth sum that he and his team-mates will secure a top-ten finish at least:

To put that into context, there’s 18 teams in Turkey’s top-flight, and Antalyaspor haven’t managed a solitary victory in the campaign so far.
We’re no experts on Turkish football, but it doesn’t sound like the cleverest bet we’ve ever heard of – fortunately, Eto’o’s probably OK for a few quid.
What do you make of the situation?
