If there’s one player in world football that really needs no help at all in front of goal, it’s Leo Messi.
But Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho obviously didn’t get the memo, as his involvement in Messi’s latest goal for Barcelona tonight till indicate.
The two footballing superpowers are in action at the Nou Camp in a match which will go a long way to deciding which club tops their respective Champions League group.
Any team that goes to Catalonia aims to keep Barca’s famous attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Suarez quiet, at least for the opening half an hour or so, but it took the reigning Ballon d’Or holder just 16 minutes to opening the scoring – although he received more than his fair share of help:

Amusingly, Fernandinho doesn’t even try to recover, and, to be fair, the damage was probably already done.
Wonder what Pep will have to say about it half-time. Perhaps a change of boots could be in order.
