The club released some big news earlier when pictures of the German midfielder in training were posted to their Twitter account.
That sparked a largely positive response from fans who were keen to see Schweinsteiger reintroduced to the first team after being frozen out by Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager opted for other midfield options when taking over from Louis van Gaal as manager and Schweinsteiger was banished from the squad in an effort to move him on.
But the German reiterated his desire to stay at Old Trafford and, after ignoring the chance to leave in the summer, it looks like his patience has paid off.
The fans are delighted that Schweinsteiger is back in training and it appears the rest of his team-mates are too if Shaw’s reaction is anything to go by.
The left-back was at United’s event earlier to mark the beginning of a sponsorship with Mlily – their new official mattress and pillow partner.
Asked about the German’s return, Shaw, per the video below, said: “Really good. Great to see him back.
“We found out the news a couple of days ago, but it’s so great to have him back and he’s a huge influence in the dressing room and on the pitch. Especially for the young players like myself.
“It’s a great boost for us, the experience he brings and the quality he brings. The quality he possesses is a boost for our team and I’m so glad to have him back.”

So Mourinho confirmed the news that Schweinsteiger would return at the weekend? Maybe there’s more to him being in training today than meets the eye.
United fans – does Schweinsteiger still have a future at Old Trafford?
