Mark Warburton insists he has not had a fall-out with BT Sport – he was simply unable to speak to them after Rangers‘ win over Inverness last week because he had other things to do.

The Ibrox manager has been at the centre of more headlines over the last following his decision not to be interviewed before his side’s league clash in the Highlands last Friday night.

That led to BT Sport Chris Sutton being heavily critical of Warburton over what he described as a “petulant” act of ignoring the TV channel.

But Warburton has spoken at his press conference today, ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi-final, and insisted that there is no spat with BT Sport.

Warburton, via the official Rangers YouTube channel, said: “There’s no situation with BT Sport.

“As I say, again, I’m bemused by the media. The fact is on Friday I had a couple of things I had to do.

“Every manager gets busy. If you lose a game of football, for example, you could stay in the changing room for an hour and berate the team. Some managers do that. So what happens then?

“I had a couple of things I had to do. There’s no issue, there’s no personal spat with BT Sport. Far from it. I’ve always been very accommodating and they’ve been good to work. So, again, I’ve been bemused with some of the articles!”

So that’s that then. Warburton doesn’t have a problem with BT Sport and we can look forward to his pre and post-match interviews with the broadcaster at the weekend.

We look back on a big weekend of Premiership football and ask if Kenny Miller is a Rangers legend.
