Scott Sinclair’s goal against Motherwell this afternoon gave Celtic a 1-0 lead – and goes down as the 2000th strike in Scottish Premiership history.

The Hoops winger has now got eight goals in just 13 games for the Hoops after opening the scoring at Parkhead.

It came after some great work by James Forrest on the right to pull across goal for Moussa Dembele, who missed the ball, but Sinclair was on hand to side-foot into the top corner:

And that’s not just any goal.

Sinclair was denied a club record by mistake weeks ago when his strike against Kilmarnock was celebrated as him beating Jimmy McGrory’s goals in consecutive games record. It appears that actually wasn’t the case and Sinclair doesn’t have the record.

But he got a milestone goal this afternoon – the 2000th since the Scottish Premiership was formed three years ago:

Sinclair and Celtic have been unable to add to that goal, going into the break with just the 1-0 lead, but will fancy themselves to do it in the second half.
