Wigan’s Miserable Attempt at Trolling Blackburn Rovers on Twitter Backfires

Wigan Athletic tried their best to poke fun at Blackburn Rovers this week on Twitter… but it didn’t go exactly to plan.

Yes, on this occasion the hunted became the hunter, as Wigan’s social media account failed to troll Rovers over their recent lack of silverware.

It all kicked off when the Latics uploaded a picture of a fan next to the League One trophy that they won last season.

However, what Wigan didn’t realise is that the man in the photograph wasn’t even a Wigan fan –  he later clarified that he actually supports Blackburn when he Tweeted the club.

This of course left Wigan looking rather silly.

Not that Blackburn would lie down to any sort of mockery:

Blackburn may be winning the battle on Twitter, but they were beaten 3-0 by Wigan on the opening day of the Championship season.

The teams will meet for a second time next year.
