BT Sport Panel Clash Over Wayne Rooney’s Drinking Statement

The BT Sport panel covering Tottenham‘s win over West Ham clashed over Wayne Rooney’s drinking statement last night.

Rio Ferdinand, Harry Redknapp and Owen Hargreaves joined Jake Humphrey in the studio at White Hart Lane for the Premier League clash between the London rivals.

And as they looked back on a thrilling five-goal win for Spurs, news broke of Rooney’s statement about the reaction to him being pictured out drinking while on England duty last week.

It’s been the biggest story of the last seven days after Rooney was pictured looking for worse for wear after dropping in on a random person’s wedding and sticking around until 5am.

The Manchester United man apologised for his actions in the wake of the press covering the pictures, but he’s now followed that up with a strong statement condemning the way it’s been treated by the media.

After the statement was released, Humphrey brought it up with Ferdinand, Redknapp and Hargreaves – and they differed greatly on their opinion of Rooney’s antics:

It’s fair to say Redknapp didn’t agree with the England captain’s drinking.

What’s your view – was Rooney wrong?
