Celtic’s development squad against Edinburgh City‘s was always going to be a mismatch.
But we weren’t expecting them to smash 21 – yes, TWENTY ONE – goals past their unfortunate opponents this afternoon.
The young Hoops faced off against the capital side in their first game of the Youth Cup and named a strong line-up for the game.
Summer signing Kristoffer Ajer was in the team, while Anthony Ralston and Jack Aitchison – who have both made their first team debuts already – were included in the squad.
So it was going to be a particularly tough game for Edinburgh City.
It actually started off quite well for the newly-promoted SPFL club as they managed to get through 20 minutes before Celtic got their opener.
But that’s where things turned bad, as the young Celts side went on to bag 21 goals in a landslide victory.
Among the 21, winger Calvin Miller scored five goals, Ajer got four, Mark Johnston got three and both PJ Crossan and Jack Aitchison got doubles:
FT: Celtic 21-0 Edinburgh City. The young Hoops march on into the next round of the Youth Cup after comprehensive win over the capital side.
