Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte Takes Sly Dig at Jose Mourinho Over Victor Moses

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has lavished praise on Blues winger Victor Moses but also took the opportunity to have a sly dig at Jose Mourinho in the process.

Since Conte’s arrival in the summer, Moses has become a key player for Chelsea in the right wing-back position and has started almost every match in the Premier League, but under former boss Mourinho, the Nigerian international couldn’t get a look-in.

Moses spent last season on-loan at West Ham and it didn’t seem as though he had any future at Stamford Bridge, under Mourinho at least.

He’s looked like a new player after Conte’s show of faith in him and the Italian manager claims to have been stunned that Mourinho and his coaching team cast him aside.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, via the Evening Standard, Conte said: “I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp.

“Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover 70 metres of the pitch.

“I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Conte and Mourinho have traded blows this season.

Mourinho was furious after his Man Utd side lost 4-0 at Chelsea last month and Conte appeared to gee up the crowd. Perhaps Mourinho will have a few words of his own when he next faces the media.

What do you think of Conte’s comments, and Moses’ progression?
