Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly offered to donate €3 million to Chapecoense, after the Brazilian football club’s first-team squad and staff were involved in a tragic plane crash.
Chapecoense were travelling to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana against Medellin team Atletico Nacional when their charter plane crashed in Cerro Gordo, Colombia on Tuesday morning.
The aircraft was carrying 81 people, 75 of whom have been confirmed as dead, whilst six survivors were pulled from the wreckage.
Ronaldo expressed his shock on social media earlier today, but reports emanating from South American football site FAN10 are claiming that the Portuguese international has apparently offered to put his hand in his pocket and help out the stricken club.
Aside from the horrific loss of life, Chapecoense are now faced with the task of rebuilding an entire football club.
If Ronaldo has donated, it would certainly be a nice gesture.
