However, defeats to Costa Rica and rivals Mexico have left the States’ chances of reaching the next World Cup in Russia in pearl, as they currently sit bottom of six-team group containing Honduras and Panama.
However, Klinsmann has something of an affinity with English football having won the PFA Player of the Year Award during his time with Tottenham in the 1990s.
Interim manager Gareth Southgate seemed an absolute certainty to take the reins before Klinsmann’s sacking, but now a lot of onlookers seem to think Southgate might have competition:
