Sunderland Brilliantly Troll Victor Anichebe With Tweet About His Goal

Sunderland haven’t had a lot to laugh about this season – but we enjoyed their funny reaction to Victor Anichebe scoring their opening goal against Bournemouth this afternoon.

The Black Cats currently sit rock bottom of the English Premier League with two points from their first 10 games of the season.

Something has to change soon for David Moyes’ side – starting with this afternoon’s trip to the Vitality Stadium to play Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side.

It’s another tough fixture, and it got off to the worst start as Dan Gosling hit an opener for the Cherries after 10 minutes.

Fortunately for Moyes, Sunderland and the fans, Anichebe got them back on level terms 24 minutes later.

And the club’s social media team couldn’t ignore the chance to poke a bit of fun at the Nigerian striker.

His Twitter went viral weeks ago when the person running his account tweeted his exact instructions about a message he wanted posted after his side’s last-minute defeat to West Ham.

In case you’ve missed the tweet, this was it:

Sunderland, like the rest of us, were obviously aware of that and adopted his ‘can you tweet something like’ introduction as they gave news of his equalising goal:

We love a bit of Twitter banter from a big team!

And Sunderland fans have to enjoy it while it lasts – as it could be a long second half for their team if they end up falling behind to Bournemouth.
