Umbro Release Statement Following Increased Demand For Chapecoense Shirts

The sporting world was turned upside down yesterday as news broke of the tragic plane crash in Colombia, carrying the Chapecoense football team, that claimed the lives of 76 people.

The Brazilian side were on their way to the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional when their aircraft crashed over Medellin.

Since the news broke yesterday, many heartbreaking stories have been released including goalkeeper Danilo’s final call to his wife after being pulled from the plane.

It’s a tragedy which has shook the world football across the globe but brought it together at the same time with Brazilian clubs offering to loan players out to Chapecoense with no fees and asking for the club to exempt for relegation for the next three seasons.

However, it seems fans from across the world are desperate to their bit after Umbro were inundated with requests for the club’s shirt and the manufacturing company were forced to release the following statement.

A touch of class from Umbro.
