The German World Cup winner was told his United career was over in the summer following the arrival of Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese coach freezing Schweinsteiger out completely and making him train with the youth team.
After a few injuries, Schweinsteiger was brought back for the subs’ bench against West Ham in the Premier League at the weekend, but wasn’t given a run-out.
However, he was on the bench again against the same team at Old Trafford tonight in the EFL Cup and with the game already won at 3-1, Schweinsteiger was brought on after 85 minutes – much to the crowd’s delight:

Not only was he cheered onto the pitch, the former Bayern Munich man was cheered every time he touched the ball and he even had a late shot on goal which came close to flying into the top corner.
Will he be involved for the match against Everton at the weekend? Only time will tell.
In this week’s show, Daniel is back and joined by website assistant editors Connor Boylan and Scott MacArthur as they look back on the League Cup, Joe Dodoo’s heroics and much more.
