Video: Brendan Rodgers Insists Celtic Are Making Progress Despite Euro Exit

Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his Celtic side are making progress despite their Champions League exit on Wednesday night.

Two goals from Leo Messi was enough to see off the Hoops despite a spirited performance, and that result coupled with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City means Celtic can’t even qualify for the Europa League.

Celtic had chances to put their mark on the contest with Callum McGregor and Moussa Dembele missing big chances with the score at just 1-0, and in his post-match comments Rodgers was clear that whilst there is a definite bridge to gap his players have made progress this season:

Celtic now have domestic issues to focus on, with the League Cup final against Aberdeen first up this weekend and the Scottish Premiership title now looking like a formality.

But the real test of Rodgers’ abilities will come in European competition next season – is he the right man to guide Celtic into the last-16 of the Champions League?
