Video: Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre Scores in Honduras World Cup Qualifier

Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre continued his good form by scoring for his country in a crucial World Cup qualifier – only his third goal in 88 caps.

The North American nation are competing to reach only the third World Cup in their footballing history, and were faced with a must-win game at home to Trinidad & Tobago.

Striker Rommel Quioto gave Honduras the perfect start after opening the scoring after just 16 minutes, and left-back Izaguirre doubled his side’s advantage just three minutes later by pouncing on a loose ball inside the area:

After looking like he’d leave Celtic for pastures new last summer, Izaguirre is all of a sudden the club’s first-choice left-back once again after Kieran Tierney’s ankle injury.

The 30-year-old put in a solid display in the recent Champions League draw away to Borussia Mönchengladbach and his goal for his country will only heighten his confidence.

What do you think of the goal?
