Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths has just gone and laid down the marker for his place as Scotland’s star striker at Wembley tomorrow evening.
The forward bagged a whopping 40 goals last season for the Hoops and was expected to carry on his form into the current campaign for club and country.
However, an ankle injury forced him to pull of the Scotland squad for the Malta game which was followed by a place in the stands during Celtic’s 5-1 win over Rangers in September.
Moussa Dembele bagged a hat-trick that day and has since been the lone striker for the Hoops in Brendan Rodgers’ 4-2-3-1 formation.
But when he has been in the side, Griffiths has still found the back of the net – as showed in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Inverness – and many have been calling for him to lead the line for his country ahead of Fulham’s Chris Martin.
Gordon Strachan, in all of his stubbornness has ignored everyone’s pleas, however, he may want to think again after the former Hibs man pulled this stunning volley out of the bag on the Wembley turf.

For the sake of the nation, we really hope Strachan was watching from the sidelines.
