Video: Wayne Rooney Scores Slick Goal Against Feyenoord to Make History

Wayne Rooney was given a rare start by Manchester United this evening and it wasn’t long before the club captain repaid Jose Mourinho’s faith in him.

Operating in his favoured No.10 role behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rooney latched onto a nice through-ball from the Swede just after the half-hour mark and proceeded to coolly chip the ball over the helpless Feyenoord keeper:

Not too bad a finish from someone supposedly over the hill,eh?

This wasn’t just any normal goal for Rooney; this goal created a little slice of history for the England captain, who has endured an absolutely torrid few weeks.

Rooney is now Manchester United’s all-time top European scorer in his own right after overtaking Ruud van Nistelrooy, and he is now just two goals behind Bobby Charlton’s all-time club record.

That’s Rooney’s second goal in consecutive European matches – is he slowly finding his form again? What do you think?
