Arsenal Cancel Their Christmas Party as Title Charge Falls to Pieces

Arsenal decided to cancel their annual fancy dress Christmas night out after falling nine points behind in the title race following defeat to Manchester City.

It’s understood, as per the Daily Mirror, that senior players including Laurent Koscielny and goalkeeper Petr Cech were firmly against the idea of the squad being pictured partying in fancy dress.

They believe that these photographs would send a negative message to fans, especially as the club’s title bid is in serious jeopardy following a run of poor results leading up to Christmas.

Arsene Wenger’s side were overrun in the second half against City at the Etihad, meaning the Gunners have dropped valuable points in successive weeks after losing to Everton the week before.

Instead, some of the players participated in the Junior Gunners party on Thursday, which gave 150 young fans the opportunity to hang out with their favourite players.

Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud were all spotted at the event.

However, with the club having cancelled the fancy dress night out, will this lead to a change in attitude from the players on the pitch?

We will have to wait and see…
