Birmingham City Sack Gary Rowett…Leaving Fans in Disbelief

Birmingham City have sacked manager Gary Rowett this afternoon – leaving many fans of the club wondering if the news is some sort of early April Fools.

The Midlands club were in serious financial and relegation trouble when Rowett took over in October 2014, but he soon steadied the ship and guided the club away from the bottom of the Championship table.

In fact, last night’s 2-1 victory over Ipswich leaves Birmingham only outside the play-off zone on goal difference and in with a real shout of actually achieving promotion back to the Premier League for next season.

But, despite Rowett’s obvious turnaround, the 42-year-old has been given his marching orders, for reasons yet unknown, and just about everybody on social media is furious about it:

Unfortunately, we can’t shed any light on why Rowett has left – but we’re certainly very intrigued to hear the reasons behind the decision, and to see who the club replace him with.

What do you think of the decision?
