Chelsea‘s Oscar is about to become one of the most expensive midfielders of all-time after it was revealed the club have agreed a fee of £52 million to sell the Brazilian.
According to the Daily Mail, the play-maker, who has been out of favour under new manager Antonio Conte this season, will be heading to the cash-rich Chinese Super League when the January transfer window opens, and it’ll probably be in return for an insane weekly salary.
Having failed to start a Premier League game since September, a parting of the ways seemed inevitable sooner or later, but the fact Oscar will be joining Shanghai SIPG – who are managed by former Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas – has raised some eyebrows.
At 25, and a regular for his country, Oscar could have probably had his pick of European clubs to choose from, but it appears the serious money on offer in the Far East was too much for him, and Chelsea, to turn down.
Onlookers on social media reckon the deal must have been negotiated by Dick Turpin:
Chelsea getting £52m for Oscar is criminal. Arrests need to be made.

By paying £50m for David Luiz, Chelsea have managed to convince people that £60m for Oscar is a snip… https://t.co/a3q0GsGMGL

Oscar uniquely talented but in the era of self-sufficient Chelsea, £52million is a staggeringly good deal for the club.

What do you think of the transfer? Will it be a loss to Chelsea? And should Oscar really be going to China so young?
