The midfielder has endured a miserable year after his move to Rangers last summer turned sour incredibly quickly, and this is actually his second charge for breaching gambling laws in UK football.
FA have charged Joey Barton with placing 1260 bets on result/progress of matches over 10 year period.

The news was announced this afternoon by the FA and, as you can probably imagine, absolutely nobody was surprised to hear that the 34-year-old veteran was in hot water again:
BREAKING NEWS: Joey Barton charged by the FA with breaking betting rules. #SSNHQ

Hahahahaha fuck sake Joey Barton, I was rooting for you as well ?

Fucking hell Joey Barton may as well retire now #banincoming ???

Remarkably, the news of Barton’s charge comes just a month after he was handed a one-match ban by the Scottish footballing authorities after admitting to the charge of placing 44 bets between 1 July and 15 September 2016.
We have no idea how that could affect the length of any ban the English FA could place on him, but you imagine it won’t help his case.
Perhaps it might be a while longer than we thought before we see Joey in action again!
