Jose Mourinho Dedicates Win Over Tottenham to Marouane Fellaini

Manchester United secured an absolutely vital win over Tottenham at Old Trafford this afternoon – and afterwards Jose Mourinho dedicated the three points to his midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the only goal of the game to see United run out 1-0 victors, and the win means they are now just three points behind Spurs in fifth and six points behind Man City in sixth.

However, as we told you earlier, the day was blighted somewhat by United fans booing Fellaini as he warmed up at the side of the pitch and eventually came on as a late substitute, apparently as a result of his tackle which gave away a penalty against Everton last weekend.

That prompted Mourinho to come out in defence of his player during his post-match press conference.

Speaking via Sky Sports, Mourinho said: “I want to dedicate this victory to Fellaini because he deserves it.

“In the last match, it was him that was involved in the loss of two points, and that’s why I want to make it clear he is an important player for me.

“The fans can do what they want and they have been phenomenal with us.

“I just have to thank them for everything they are giving us, especially in the period where we are not giving them too much so I am really happy with them.”

What do you make of Mourinho’s decision to come out in support of the Belgian international? It certainly makes a change from giving his players stick in public, that’s for sure!
