Steven Gerrard took in one of world football’s biggest derby matches on Saturday night.
The Liverpool legend was in the stands as Barcelona and Real Madrid went head-to-head in El Clasico – their first meeting of the season.
Fresh off the back of announcing his retirement, Gerrard understandably has a little more free time on his hands.
Best Uncle Ever
So it was his turn to play the role of ‘world’s greatest uncle’ at the weekend by taking his two young nephews along to the Nou Camp with him.
Barcelona looked set to to cut the gap on leaders Madrid to just three points after Luis Suarez put them ahead.
But his goal was cancelled out as a late Sergio Ramos header levelled the score in the 90th minute for a share of the points.
Gerrard took to social media with a post from inside the ground.
And he revealed that is was actually his former Anfield team-mate Suarez who hooked him up with tickets for the match.
He said on Instagram: “El Clasico with my two nephews. Thanks @LuisSuarez9 for sorting us out.”
Well played, Uncle Stevie!
Saturday’s result sees Zindedine Zidane’s Los Blancos side remain firmly in control of the Spanish title race with a six-point lead over their rivals.
