Mesut Ozil Takes So Much Abuse After Arsenal Defeat to Manchester City

Mesut Ozil is taking a lot of stick for the part he played in Arsenal‘s defeat to Manchester City today.

The Gunners headed to the Etihad hoping to get a victory which would see them cut the gap to league leaders Chelsea from nine to six points.

And they got off to the ideal start in achieving that aim when Theo Walcott turned home inside five minutes.

City looked their usual ropey selves in defence and Arsenal appeared set up to perfectly counter their attack-minded team.

But that quickly changed as Leroy Sane equalised two minutes after half-time before Raheem Sterling hit the winner in the 71st minute.

You’d have thought that Arsenal would do everything they could to get back into a game they looked favourites to win at one point. Yet several players looked uninterested, particularly Ozil.

And it wasn’t lost on fans watching the game, with plenty taking to Twitter to give the German playmaker abuse for his ineffective performance:

This video probably sums Ozil’s performance up best though:

Arsenal fans – how disappointed were you with Ozil’s display?
