Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer saw his attempts to troll Mesut Ozil spectacularly backfire this afternoon after the Bundesliga giants were pitted against Ozil’s Arsenal in the Champions League.
Despite winning their group, the Gunners were given a pretty tough draw in the round of 16 and will come up against the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Douglas Costa and, of course, Neuer in the New Year.
Arsene Wenger’s men were handed a repeat of their last-16 ties from both 2013 and 2014, both of which saw them eliminated. They also met in last season’s group stage.
And as soon as the balls were plucked from their bag in UEFA’s swanky headquarters, German international colleagues Neuer and Ozil were at it on Twitter, with the midfielder definitely coming out on top.
The goalie uploaded a pic of him saving an Ozil penalty, with the caption “Meeting a good friend”:

But Ozil wasn’t about to stand for that, and quickly downloaded a jpeg of his own:

We’re giving this one to Ozil – but when the teams meet in February? Bayern are definitely favourites.
Who do you think will come out on top?
