Motherwell’s Mark McGhee Claims Assistant Coach Chris Davies Isn’t Celtic Quality

Motherwell’s Mark McGhee Claims Assistant Coach Chris Davies Isn’t Celtic Quality

Celtic managed to secure a dramatic victory against Motherwell this afternoon, leading to Well boss Mark McGhee to take a dig at Hoops coach Chris Davies.

Motherwell looked like ending Celtic’s unbeaten start to the season after racing into a 2-0 lead at half-time, with striker Louis Moult coming up with two excellent finishes.

We imagine McGhee’s mood at the break was pretty bright, but it didn’t stay that way for long after the Hoops came roaring out of the blocks in the second half.

In the end, goals from Callum McGregor, Patrick Roberts, Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic completed the turnaround for the Premiership champions, who ended up 4-3 winners.

And when McGhee faced the press, he seemed to have a bee in his bonnet about Davies:

To be fair, we’re fairly confident that McGhee knew Davies’ name before being told – does he really need to resort to childish tactics like that?

And why is he even making comments on the standard of Celtic’s coaches? Is it just purely sour grapes?
